Bluescope Flare Stack Replacement
Allfab were engaged to demolish and Install of No1, 2 and 3 Flare Stacks Bluescope’s Port Kembla BOS Facility.
The work involved the firstly the demolishing of the severely corroded existing stack and struss support structure to existing foundations. Then installation of the new flare stack including supply and install new access platforms, new transition duct, new natural gas and nitrogen supply pipework.
The install of the new internationally designed stacks was unique, as the original was a structurally supported stack, while the new stack was a free standing design, which had never been installed by any Australian contractor.
The logistics posed a significant challenge, as two departmental areas required detailed knowledge of all planned work. Allfab managed to successfully manage both departments, thus ensuring no productivity was lost due to time delays.
This was evident as the project moved forward, as Allfab was able to achieve significant increases in efficiency as each stack was completed in a shorter duration than the previous. We successfully completed the works with a 30% reduction in downtime to the plant.
Allfab completed all our contract works and all additional emergent work both on time and within our clients budget.
