Bluescope Transfer Pit Upgrade
Allfab’s scope of work was to replace No.1 No.2 and No.3 Transfer Pit (Slag Car) Foundations and Rails in an open book contract.
The working was made increasing challenging as it was to be completed whilst working next to operating furnaces with production interactions and additionally the scope for the demolition of existing foundations were unknown.
Each pit was programmed to be completed in 22 days, Allfab’s Management engineered solutions to allow the work to be completed in 18 days, a 19% reduction in downtime.
The modular assembly templates, skid designs and pre-assembled bearer plates used not only enable easier installation it also realised cost savings with a 24% reduction in estimate.
As Prime Contractor Allfab was solely responsible for the control, programming and safety planning of the major civil sub-contractor.
The project totalling 20,000 Man Hours was carried out with zero harm, no lost time, medical treated or first aid injuries including our managed civil sub-contractors.
